AgroFossilFree project was presented in Agrenda, one of the most popular weekly newspapers of agricultural interest in Greece. Our coordinator, Thanos Balafoutis, was interviewed and explained the current energy status of EU agriculture and how the project is expected to contribute to the High Level EU Strategies. As he pointed out, reducing the use of fossil fuel energy at all stages of agricultural activities, while maintaining the same quality of the final product, is the main objective of AgroFossilFree project. To achieve this, there are technologies and strategies that could be adopted by farmers in order to reduce the use of fossil fuels in the agricultural sector, named “Fossil-Energy-Free Technologies and Strategies” or “FEFTS”. It was also further analyzed how the project will benefit farmers at the end, providing a collaboration tool (AgEnergy Platform) for all types of European stakeholders to find a wide variety of FEFTS and their assessment.
