Last Wednesday, 24th of November, the companies and partners of the project Trama TecnoAmbiental (TTA) and Iniciativas Innovadoras (INI), together with the company Ingeniería y Desarrollos Renovables (INDEREN), organized the first Regional Workshop, made at Picassent, in Valencia, Spain.
The day started with the presentation of the AgroFossilFree project, they explain about its objectives and presented the Ag Energy Platform. The workshop was focussed on Fossil-Energy-Free Technologies and Strategies (FEFTS) for use in greenhouses.
In addition, during the presentation of the AgroFossilFree project, in the municipality of Picassent, participants learnt first-hand about the Agrovoltaic Energy Community Picassent Solar, promoted by Transición Energética Solar, S.L. (TRANESOL) and all the participants visited the first agrovoltaic pilot plant for tropical crops, designed and built by INDEREN.
After a brief introduction of the project and a presentation of the Agrovoltaic Energy Community Picassent Solar, they organized a workshop where everybody had the opportunity to share their ideas about energy efficiency technologies and clean energy production. They also identified energy-related problems in existing agricultural systems and they extracted ideas from stakeholders on how to solve these problems. They also talked about collaborative research project proposals between different stakeholders (farmers, extension services, industry and researchers). To finish, they shared their thoughts about the policies to be incorporated and other policy instruments to assist in the integration of FEFTS into local agriculture.
